Rescue Squad / EMS

Emergency medical services is a vital function of the Cayuga Heights Fire Department. CHFD staffs an ALS response vehicle, establishing patient contact and initiating patient stabilization sometimes many minutes prior to the arrival of Bangs Ambulance. Our vehicle carries everything that the ambulance does, except for the stretcher.

Our crews comprised of all levels of New York EMS certification ranging from First Responders to Paramedics. For more information about the rescue squad or for more information on becoming a member of the department click here!

Support Staff

A question that many community members ask is, "I'm interested in helping the department, but I don't really want to fight fire or have enough time to fulfill training requirements."

What if I don't have enough time to fulfill training requirements, but I still want to help? You can most definitely help! Our department is always in need of volunteers to provide support services. Support members are needed for scene photography, administrative record keeping, station maintenance, social outing organization, fund raising, and numerous other functions. Have a particular skill or talent? Let us know, you can help us save lives without fighting fires!
