FF Matthew Crovella’s Passing

It is with deep sadness that Cayuga Heights Fire Department announces the passing of one of our own, Matthew Crovella. Matt joined the department in the autumn 2020, and was a much loved member of the CHFD family. Matt passed away as a result of a medical episode.

Matt dedicated his life to service, with his work for Bangs Ambulance as an EMT, and attended Cornell University, class of ’23. While home in Manlius, NY, Matt served as a lifeguard, an Eagle Scout, and enjoyed teaching kids to speed skate.

We are all hurting as a community and a family, and if anyone needs to reach out, resources are available. A Tompkins county helpline can be reached at 607-274-6200. For any Cornell students, supportive resources are available at caringcommunity.cornell.edu.
