Structure Fire / University Park Apartments

CHFD Engine 203, Engine 202, and Ladder 231 dispatched around 0200 to a report of a heavily involved structure fire at the University Park Apartments in Lansing as part of our mutual aid agreement with Lansing Fire Department. The initial search, water supply, and line deployment from the E203 crew and the backup from the incoming E202 crew were rapid and efficient. Teamwork, communication, and efficiency are crucial to effective fire ground operations. L231 set up in a back parking lot to get a different angle on the scene and established another water source with multiple handlines. All crews participated in overhaul operations and CHFD crews were cleared around 0800 when Lansing cleared all mutual aid. No one was harmed, though several apartments were lost to the actual fire and to smoke damage. Scene and cause of fire are currently under investigation by NYS Fire Investigators.

On 10/24, CHFD and Lansing crews were dispatched to the scene again due to a small rekindling of the previous day's fire.
