This evening at 18:59 CHFD was dispatched on an automatic mutual aid assignment to the BorgWarner plant in Lansing for a report of smoke and fire in the facility. Engine 203, Ladder 231, Engine 202, and 262 responded.
Engine 203 and 262 arrived on scene to find a significant smoke condition inside the plant. Crews from E203 proceeded interior and located the fire inside a large piece of machinery while firefighters from L231 proceeded to the roof of the structure. CHFD firefighters extinguished the fire with multiple dry chemical fire extinguishers. Units then assisted LFD with ventilation of the structure.
