On 12/21/21 at 05:29 CHFD was requested mutual aid for a residential structure fire in Lansing. Engine 203 arrived on scene to find flames showing through two front windows. Reports indicated that the residents had evacuated to the Lansing Fire Station up the road. Firefighters from Engine 203 moved quickly to extinguish the fire in a "transitional attack," rapidly deploying water on the fire through the open windows before proceeding inside to extinguish the main body of fire. Ladder 231, Engine 202, and numerous apparatus from Lansing Fire Department also responded to the fire. The fire was quickly extinguished while additional firefighters from Lansing FD and CHFD conducted searches of the structure to confirm that all residents had been evacuated.
In addition to Lansing and Cayuga Heights, units from Bangs Ambulance, NYSEG, and Tompkins County Sheriffs were also on scene.
